Media Composer | Sound Designer

ABOUT SIMÓN
Simon Villarreal is a composer, music producer, sound designer, and educator based in South Florida. Originally from Colombia, he has built a career working across Latin American television, film, and music education.

He designed and developed the recently launched Music Production program at Florida Memorial University, where he now serves as program coordinator and instructor.
He also teaches in the online master’s program in Media Scoring and Production at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, where he co-developed the courses Media Scoring Foundations and Media Scoring Extensions.
In addition to his work in education, Simon has created sound design for over 16 television shows across Latin America, with productions aired on platforms such as Netflix, Sony Pictures Television, and Blim. His credits include La Reina del Flow, Rosario Tijeras 2, María Magdalena, La Guzmán, and El Barón, among others. He has also composed original music for campaigns and brands including DirectTV, Alpina, Mastercard, and Mr. Tea.
Simon holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Production from Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia, and a master’s degree in Media Scoring and Production from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where he studied under Emmy and Grammy-winning composer Carlos Rafael Rivera.
With a strong background in both composition and sound design, Simon brings a deep understanding of how music and sound support storytelling. He’s passionate about the creative process, collaborative work, and supporting the next generation of composers, producers, and sound designers.
